Customer Rating: Summary: Hannah's Disappointment Comment: Having seen a short mention of this book in a Literary Review, and being an avid Hannah Hauxwell reader, I had a lot of trouble in actually purchasing this publication. Having done so, I'm now really quite disappointed. Far from being an account of Hannah's "80 years in the dales", it's more a travelogue of the dales and dales people. Whilst relating to her life and hardships, the writer, W R Mitchell, tells more the story of the places and history around Low Birk Hatt, Hannah's farm home, rather than creating an autobiography which, to me, the title suggested. Mr Mitchell also has a habit of repeating, quite often, information previously presented which I found rather irritating.
On the positive side, I found many of the pictures, especially those of Hannah herself, very enjoyable.
