Customer Rating: Summary: Really short! Comment: A good format - some steps are demonstrated by the teacher, then by her class. I use the first section - 22 minutes - to dance along to, to work through some moves if I just want to have a quick practice. The remaining 9 minutes of the video isn't of interest to me, as a cane dance/stick dance is demonstrated. And that's it, the entire video is ... 31 minutes long!!
Customer Rating: Summary: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Comment: Mainly filmed in a small class. As always, Hilary explains the moves very clearly, this video is fun, energetic, and is perfect for intermediates. The sound is better than in her first video, the picture quality is very good. I would recommend this video to those who have some experience and want a challenge!! You need a lot of energy for this, but it leaves you feeling exhilarated!!
Customer Rating: Summary: an exellent video for intermediate learners of the art Comment: As I come from a belly dancing culture I know good professional belly dancing when I see it. And although I can do the basics as every one does where I come from I wanted to learn how to do it properly and learn the steps and so on, I bought lots of other teaching videos but was never really that satisfied most of all by the dancers themselves who although knew how to move didn't seem to feel the music! which is a very essential part in belly dancing so when I found this tape and saw how Hillary moves and how she feels the rythm as if she were a real Egyptian (and a very good Egyptian dancer!) I was really impressed and still am every time I watch it and do the moves and exercises along with her. As to the moves, exercises and routines on this video they are fabulous, clearly demonstrated, expertly done and explained in a lovely atmospheric setting with Hillary and her students dressed in their fantastic shake your hips gear! doing some serious hip shaking to beautiful belly dance music. It's just worth buying the video for Hillary's stick section at the end which is fascinating and real fun to watch and do. I very strongly recommend this video to anyone who wants to learn the real thing and to learn it properly.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent for Improvers Comment: I found that this video was great for improving your belly dancing by building on your existing knowledge. It assumes a level of knowledge and skill at performing the basic moves (which are all covered in the Beginners video), but there is a natural progression to the level of difficulty. The moves and techniques were well explained, the setting and music were atmospheric. There was also an interesting section giving instructions on how to dance with a stick. Overall, excellent for improvers who have mastered the basics.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun if you don't mind improvising. Comment: I found the commentary very softly spoken and often difficult to hear over the music. Althought some of the moves shown in this video were fun to master, I felt that in general they were poorly described and I often wondered what I ought to be doing. It is also quite difficult to see her legs so I ended up improvising some of the time. Despite this if you want to improve your belly dancing it worth giving it a go.
