Summary: Great A'Tuin would be proud
Comment: For years I did wonder how Discworld would look on screen, or more importantly, how it would come across. This and the animated Soul Music were everything I could hope for. The story, humour, thrills, spills and general fun are all intant, so is the manditory fiery cart wheel in any tragic scene. While I have a few issues with how some ofthe characters look, this really does help the entire thing become more real.

Very enjoyable and good for repeat viewings, easily a 5 star rating :)

Summary: Witches wild
Comment: This mini-series comes on three tapes, each containing two half-hour episodes.

First of all, let me say that I have not read the book upon which this movie is based, so I cannot say how closely it matches the book. The story is entertaining, and the quality is at least as good as much of what is seen on American TV. My one grievance with this story is the ending; a strange sleight-of-hand occurs that does not appear to make any sense. I found that a key occurrence is omitted from the show, making the ending somewhat incoherent.

However, in spite of this, the show is very funny and suitable for viewer of any age. Feel free to watch it in front of the children, you (and they) will enjoy it.

Summary: A flavour of Pratchett but lacking the potency of the book.
Comment: Having read virtually all the TP books and being a particular fan of Death and the 3 witches, I was looking forward to enjoying the skills of some superb actors and was prepared to make major allowances for the simplicity of the animation. Christopher Lee and Jane Horrocks were especially good. What a shame, therefore, that the wittiest lines of other characters were often lost by being too rushed in places. Whilst the rapid movement between locations and characters works well in written form and keeps the reader involved in the action, in this film version it seemed very disjointed. I'd really looked forward to this treat, but instead much prefer the book and the superb cover illustration of Josh Kirby. As a film it was OK, but I can't help feeling Mr Pratchett's skill and wit were not done full justice.

Summary: One of the best video adaptations ever
Comment: Having been a Pratchett fan for a few years, I was delighted to get this animated version of one of my fav books, the animation (done by the same people as dangermouse) is very very good. And Jane Horricks is the definitive Magrat. Buy this video NOW, if its the last thing you do.

"VERY VERY FUNNY"

Summary: Compatent attempt to bring Discworld to the small screen
Comment: Having recently come into contact with Terry Pratchett's Discworld series I found this browzing around amazon. I found the voice characteriziations to be excelent, espicially the anthropomorphic personification of Death, the droll, conversational manner contrasting wonderfully with his macabre visage. The animation may be not quite what we would expect from companies like Disney or Bluth but it more than suffices, and the characters are far more alive than the recent sterile and souless Disney fair.
