Summary: Fantastic gay short film compilation
Comment: Are you fed up with all the dull, anodyne gay films usually available on video and DVD? This compilation of 5 French short films is a total antidote to the American dross that we're usually fed. Each of the filmmakers treats queer sexuality as something that is much more complex than the usual straightforward boy-meets-boy fare. The stand out films on the compilation are both by French auteur Francois Ozon. Made long before he became the darling of the arthouse circuit with UNDER THE SAND and 8 WOMEN, A LITTLE DEATH and A SUMMER DRESS are both mini-masterpieces. Although only 15 mins long, A SUMMER DRESS is far more satisfying than most features. It's sexy (VERY sexy, actually), witty and will leave you humming the wonderful French song 'Bang Bang' for weeks afterwards.
These are all films made on real budgets (not like so many short films) and are about big ideas. Everybody I know who has seen this compilation has been entranced. I can think of no better present to give the man you love.
