Customer Rating: Summary: The Emperor's New Clothes? Comment: I agree that the mixing is pretty seamless, as it should be if it's done in a studio. I can't help feeling that this is cheating really: there's a world of difference between mixing live (not necessarily in a club)and creating something in a studio on a computer, i.e. spontenaety.
Along with all the other Global Underground series, this left me totally unmoved. I really don't get it: the whole series just seems to be a triumph of style over substance. Go for some of the Journeys by DJ stuff instead.
Customer Rating: Summary: 10 out of 10 Comment: I never ever give anything 10/10 or rarely 5 stars because that is too good and if I do it has to be nothing short of perfect! So it is MY honour to present my review of this mixed compilation from the world's greatest ever trance DJ - Sasha! ..it dropped at the very height of the house/trance/progressive scene's musical peak (1999) and happened at easily the world's best clubbing location, in it's best ever club, Space (I believe it was recorded live but regardless of that it might as well have been!) It was also published by one of the scene's finest labels (club:boxed) and easily one of the most forward thinking worldwide DJ agencies who lend out the world's biggest international DJ's. Period. The credentials go on and on and on and they don't even sell this for me! Thats simply down to the originailty and standard of quality that this global underground mix compilation series boasts along with this volume in particular! The tunes, the mixing, the tracklisting.. mindblowing! Just buy this if you like the world's best ever Trance tracks and the world's greatest ever Trance DJ on one of the finest limited edition packages ever to exist to date..
Thanks alot Sasha!
Customer Rating: Summary: Trance art! No charts! Comment: Well i used to do the clubbing scene in the early 90's and loved techno trance back in the day at the Orbit club Morley Leeds. We would get Dave Angel, Joey Beltram, Sven Vath etc who were the techno trance masters at the time, No charty stuff just underground trance and i loved it!... Anyway now i have the family and at 34 years of age i'm rediscovering my passion for the music. Now don't get me wrong that euphoria stuffs okay but its a little too mainstream and charty for me. This led me to buying this album in hope sasha still did the biz! And boy like a fine wine this man just gets better with age, his talent to engulf you into his musical world is second to none. Now if you prefer the charty euphoria trance this probably is'nt the one for you as this is real mental journey music. From the moment you put the first disc in, it grabs you with its mellow beats and as the disc moves on these become more complex and meaner. Don't be put off by the mellowness at first just leave it alone and listen as this is how sasha gets you upon his ride before the fun starts. This really is a superb cd and is bursting with quality throughout. I am just so pleased that in the time i have been away from the scene there are Dj's out there who have not followed suit and gone mainstream and still produce the goods as they did back in the day, true underground trance! "WHAT A DISC WHAT A MAN!"
Customer Rating: Summary: Satisfying air of quality Comment: I have to agree with the other reviewers that this is up there among the best GU releases. I prefer this over the San Fransisco GU mix from Sasha.
It's amazingly consistant once it gets going, though track 1 on CD1 is a bit of a warm up. There's something reassuring about this mix. It doesn't offer towering highs or huge contrast, it just seems to slide along with tracks merging seamlessly.
Customer Rating: Summary: GU FOREVER Comment: I LOVE GU, GU FOREVER !! Easily the best funky house CD's on the market. This one is another one in a long line of the best mixed music around !!
