Customer Rating: Summary: Pure Genius Comment: Forget heavy metal and led zepplin - Jeff has more balls in his little finger than all all the 'great' guitar players except than perhaps Jimi himself. Pure testosterone. The perfect driving music - no speed limit.
Jeff can change from thumping rock distortion to beautiful haunting bends and swoops - in pitch perfect highs and lows. Not to go through the tracks one by one - but this is Jeff hitting a high he has hinted at all his career. Never one to copy old riffs and cliches - he has been a unique talent ever since he picked up a 6 string. It's a change to see an artist not go down the commercial route just for the money.. No Frog Songs or Wonderful Tonights - just great guitar.
Customer Rating: Summary: Blown Away Comment: As a Blues fan i remember Jeff Beck from the Yardbirds,Jeff Beck Group era.I also remember the, underrated Beck,Bogart & Appice trio.I am afraid he lost me around the Wired period, although i admired the musicianship, the jazz direction he was taking was not my bag.So it was with caution that i approached this c.d.
All i can say is that this is pure magic! It is a masterpiece of guitar playing, incorporating blues, jazz, dance beats, eastern influences the lot.
If you want hear something new ,and challenging from the guitar buy this NOW!
Customer Rating: Summary: So get it Comment: Another slice of pure enjoyment from JB. On Nadia he uses the personal satisfaction bar to make music - a first, Rolling & Tumbling is great with vocals but check out Red, White & Blues (under Martin Scorcese). Blackbird beautiful idea. Actually don't waste your time reading this, treat yourself and play, play play.
Customer Rating: Summary: A league of his own Comment: Quite simply: Mind-blowing. This guy has it all -- feel, edge, risk, dynamics, and damn big balls if this album is anything to go by! He continued the theme of "Who Else?" with his experimentation of live-meets-electro backing, but this time the playing seems even more inspired. 'Earthquake' sets the bar pretty high from the outset, sounding a bit like a revved-up Nine Inch Nails tune. Then we're into a stellar roll of four songs with 'Nadia' hitting possibly an all time Beck high -- fantastic beats and a touch on the geetar that sends shivers down the spine. 'Loose Cannon' has an almost elastic riff that sprawls and grooves whilst 'Left hook' wouldn't be out of place at an underground drum 'n' bass club in Brixton -- super-aggressive backing, super-aggressive chops. The album then rides out on a high, but toned down, note. A genius album by a genius man. Highly, highly recommended for musos and non-musos alike.
Customer Rating: Summary: Hi Ho Silver what???? Comment: If you are looking for the Jeff Beck beloved of the end of parties and discos, look away, there's nothing for you here. If, however, you are looking for some of the best writing and cutting edge playing, that is taking the sound of the guitar into new areas untouched by most of his contemporaries, then this is the place for you. Jeff Beck is unique, his sound is unreal - loud and heavy at times, yet at others his guitar could make you weep. No re-hashing blues standards, if you want 12 bar blues, here is also not for you. The guy is a genius. Check out the official bootleg "Live from New York" - he plays like this live!
