Here you have all your favorite, hilarious episodes from series one of Only Fools in crystal clear quality. This is a DVD of which you'll find yourself playing over and over again, enjoying the outrageous and hilarious antics of Del Boy, Rodney and Granddad!
When you look at these classic episodes, it's little wonder as to why this show became so popular! The storylines are excellent, the acting is believable and praise-worthy and when it comes to laughs, this laugh out loud gem of a comedy show is second to none!
If you love the show, you'll love this collection. Just sit back, relax and enjoy!

Summary: An admirable start of Britain's Best Sitcom.
Comment: Although hailed by many 'Fools' fans, I personally love the first series. After first seeing it six years ago, I still laugh out loud at this series maybe moreso than any other.
The first series is not my favourite series (Series Three and Six are my favourites) however there are some splendid moments. Includimg Rodney signing up to Trotter's Independent Traders (Big Brother); The brothers chatting up transvestites (Go West Young Man); the con trick with the statue (Cash and Curry); Del being engaged to a 'homicidal' poisioner (The Second Time Around); Del's short lived Trotter's Ethnic Tours (A Slow Bus to Chingford); the nuclear fall out shelter (The Russians are Coming) and of course the first festive episode where Grandad leaves the giblets in the turkey (Christmas Crackers).
Overall a worthwhile buy if only for the episodes: 'Go West Young Man' and 'Cash and Curry.'

Comment: The first series of only fools and horses wasnt a success,in some ways its easy to see why,its a mixed bag,mostly good of course but the series looks good when you know all you need to know about the trotters but when this was released in 1981,what people saw was all that they would know so what they viewed was at face value so some of the material is a bit watery.The show failed to win the viewers so the bbc said to creator john sullivan that they were gonna cancel the show but sullivan being determined begged for a second series,showed the bbc some scripts and they agreed and the gamble more than paid off.
Series one contains six episodes and the first ever christmas special which wasnt quite feature length at this stage,the first episode is called 'big brother' and is a good enough episode,as are the next four episodes ranging from brilliant in parts,classic in others to frustrating and poor,the show certainly didnt have its free flowing style at this early stage but thats almost to be expected of a first series.However its with the last episode of the series that the word poor can really be thrown at.'The Russians are coming' deals with the threat of world war three and a fall out shelter that del made to save his family in the event of war,the show features del,rodney and grandad in the shelter talking for ages but the conversation is really boring and seldom worthy of half a smile so thats not the norm for the classic show,and the christmas special fails to impose itself to anything other than average with nothing of real note happening.
I am an only fools fanatic and i know my stuff and i could easily come on here saying that this is 42 carrot gold comedy,it is a good series as a whole but not a magic one but dont hesitate to buy this,you need all of the episodes to see how the story unfolds,but dont go looking for masterpiece after masterpiece in series one because it doesnt flow that way.

Comment: This is a great way to kick off the fabulous show of only fools and horses. i think that you could never find two people together who were as funny as 'del boy' and 'rodney'. i think that all the episodes on here are great and their are no bad things about this dvd appart from the fact that i didn't really like the old grandad because he got on my nerves a bit.
i would highly reccommend this item to anyone even if you've not seen or not even heard of this show, it's a great laugh for anybody and i would say that about every other series they have made. this dvd is well worth it's price and i think that the price is incredibally cheap for something as good as this unlike the office.
