Summary: x-wing review
Comment: This is a very good game, in the style of a flight simulator set in space. You have to do a number of increasingly difficult missions up until you tackle the death star itself. But any star wars fans of that generation, with more then an ounce of games playing proficiency should enjoy this one tremendously.

Summary: Great but flawed
Comment: These games are absolutely brilliant. Millions of years ago I upgraded my PC to a 386 just so I could play X-wing. More recently than that I got a more modern PC which ran windows 98, and these games worked fine. X-wing was almost exactly as I remembered it but with much nicer graphics.Tie Fighter (which I hadn't played before) was even better because you could blast the crap out of Luke Skywalker and his mates and do (bad) Darth Vader impressions, and that's the point - there were always two kinds of kid, the ones who rescued the princess and the ones who put buckets on their heads and blew up planets. A word of warning - Don't try and play tie fighter with a bucket on your head, you won't see the screen, and if, like me, you're pushing 30 you'll look pretty stupid.
X-wing versus Tie Fighter was not so cool, because I don't have a network card. I'm sure it'd be great but I can't try that to its full potential.
And now the down side. I've since upgraded to Windows XP, and now I can't make the games run at all. I'd almost be tempted to downgrade!

Summary: Just buy this for Star Wars Tie fighter.
Comment: I bought the original version of Tie Fighter way back in 1994 when I was living in South Africa. I was about 13 years old and had only played one other flight sim (Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe). I thought that SWOTL was the greatest thing ever. But then came along Tie fighter, and it just captivated my imagination. I became addicted to the game and have played it at least 3 or 5 times a year ever since. I had to replace the original version a year ago and so I bought this pack. X-Wings a great game and XW VS TF is OK, but its worth buying the pack if only for Tie FIghter.

Comment: x-wing and especially tie fighter are - imho - the best star wars action games to date.
easy to handle, nice story, nice graphics (not up to date, but still ok) and sound. and: great star wars feeling and ambience!
joystick and keyboard are - like in the originals - required (i know it, i own both!)attention: x-wing and tie-fighter do not work with win xp. win 98 recommended!
