Customer Rating: Summary: wonderful voice Comment: Wonder voice and performance, shame about the music. I must addmit I have never heard any Rossini, but I dont think I will in the future, I would by far rather listen her sing Bellini.
Customer Rating: Summary: Top singers, not just Bartoli Comment: Cecilia Bartoli has been praised enough, there is hardly more to add. I want to draw your attention to the cast of this excellent performance. Raul Gimenez is superb as prince, with a wonderfull soft, flexible, tender voice thankfully very unlike the tenors that are just powerful, but who lack a feeling for the music they sing. I think he is one of the best Rossini tenors around. Alessandro Corbelli, as Dandini, is a very good baritone. He has a powerful, yet soft and flexible voice and is good at acting as well as singing. The two daughters have maybe not the experienced voices of the older members of the cast, but their singing is good, and the faces they pull during the performance are immensly funny. The opera gets better with every time you watch it, and as it is also filmed very well, and has a good quality of sound, and nice old-fashioned costumes (not like these German productions with modern outfits) it is definitely a must buy!
Customer Rating: Summary: Brilliant-Bartoli rules!!! Comment: Loved this DVD A shame this piece isn't performed more, as is really good, beautiful music, funny libretto, it's all there. Difficult, though. Bartoli's brilliant, so are Gimenez and Dara. Get this one if you like opera at all.
Customer Rating: Summary: Funny and incredibly well sung Comment: Rossini's opera Cinderella should be one of the most sung operas in the world, it's funny and the music is beautiful. The problem is that not very many singers sing Rossini well, it's extremely difficult. In this production it doesnt look so difficult, in fact it looks easy. Bartoli's intepretation of Cinderella is lovely but my favourite singer in this production is the prince, Raul Gimenez, who is unlike any other tenor I know of, sings with a mildly tone and a beautiful piano. Enzo Dara is quite funny as the father and Corbelli does a good job as well.I already had this opera on VHS but sadly without text. Here the text is in english (goody) also german (good for my mother in law) and other languages. Finally I get the jokes.
Customer Rating: Summary: splendid and exciting, all singers are fantastic actors too Comment: Two and half hour of splendid joy. Fantastic singers-actors and famous music. Beautiful melody and exiting performance. Art of Cecilia Bartoli is unbelivable. She sings very difficult trells without efforts. The "Cenerentola" is beautiful opera, but it suggests that Gioaccino Rossini didn't want to make life easy for singers - because of so many music "rocks" in partitura. Torture for Voices, but not for such singers as Enzo Dara, Jimenez and others. I can advise this video for all vievers, not only opera-lovers.
