Summary: I couldn't believe it
Comment: Having the word 'BAD' untidly scrawled on the front of your album is clearly a critical marketing error. To add to the screw up I opened the album and the CD had a whole right through the centre. Michael- you plonker!

Summary: Really, really Bad
Comment: I'm not going to knock Michael Jackson for all the extra curricular stuff that seems now to tower over any of his musical achievements,I'm also going to point out that he's since made far inferior albums-my beef with Jacko is that this album was the soundtrack to hundreds of car journeys following my brother getting it as a 13th birthday present back in 1988. Even back then, with my limited powers of criticism I hated it, now I've had years to dwell on the reasons why.
To put it simply-songs-or lack of- are the problem. The title track sounds like someone's little brat in the throes of a paddy pants-down, 'The Way You Make Me Feel', the album's most melodic offering is ruined by the sound of someone dropping a toolbox down a flight of stairs every twelve bars,'Speed Demon' is just, really, really terrible, soulless song writing (one of a number of tracks contained that would sound absurd if busked, shorn of Quincy Jones' magic fingers)..everyone quacks on about 'Man in the Mirror', but its phoney and distinctly phoned in sentiment, the ying to the yang of 'I just Can't Stop Loving You' which sounds like a B-side Alexander O'Neal would have passed on. Desperate attempts to gloss over the many fractured cracks of this patchwork botch come in the form of ridiculous 'space age' noises, breathing (so risky) and all manner of whoops & bi-polar tics. I never heard the CD only bonus track 'Leave Me Alone' untill I had the 'pleasure' of watching Moonwalker, but I can't be bothered to slag that one off.
I was led to belive Michael Jackson was terrible for years after 'Bad',and it was only when I checked out 'Off The Wall' & 'Thriller' that I realised how badly my brother got the wrong tape for his birthday. The inquests into 'Michael Jackson: What went wrong?' start here

Summary: Okay but....
Comment: People from my generation are determined by the MJ album they first owned. I had Thriller and that shaped me, definetely giving me an interest in the occult. MY cousin Kyle had this and that shaped his lifelong interest in midi keyboards and touching children.

What happened to the brilliant spoken word intro to "I Just Can't Stop Loving You?"

It went:

"I Just Want To Lay Next To You
For A while
You Look So Beautiful Tonight
Your Eyes Are So Lovely
Your Mouth Is So Sweet
A Lot Of People
Misunderstand Me
That's Because They Don't
Know Me At All
I Just Want To Touch You
And Hold You
I Need You
God I Need You
I Love You So Much"

I realise some of it might have a creepy undercurrent who believe that the child abuse allegations levelled at Michael had some credence, but what about the rest of us?

Summary: Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh memories
Comment: 1987... I was 15 and I knew nothing about music, until Bad came along I was known at school as a bit of a bookworm, I loved(And still do)reading. Then my mum gave me some money to go get myself a book but there wasn't any new books out that I hadn't already read so I went to the music section of my local supermarket, the only album I saw that caught my eye was the current number one album...BAD. So I got it on cassette so I could play it on my walkman and from the first song right through to the last I was completely hooked, to say this is the only album I ever listened to for a whole year would be an understatement, I went out and bought Thriller and Off the wall but after a few listens I always ended up missing Bad. This album is a real nostalgia trip for me, it's the first album I went out and bought myself and it's the first album I listened to and absolutely loved.
Michael has released a few more great albums but for me none surpass this one, this is a true eighties classic. I remember being so jealous at the time of the people that owned a CD player(I didn't) because they got leave me alone as a bonus song but it was a great relief when it was released as a single, I got my pocket money and rushed straight out to get it.
This album must be bought by anybody who was a teenager in the eighties, it's a classic and deserves to sell more than Thriller.
