Customer Rating: Summary: Close to perfect Comment: This film appeals on so many levels - it's a farce, a sophisticated comedy, a gangster movie, a musical - some classic lines and probably a good contender for the best last line ever. Please watch this, it's that good.
Customer Rating: Summary: The most fun anyone can get from a movie Comment: Some Like It Hot could be the funniest film ever made. It certainly is one of the funniest films I've ever seen. Not only does it feature great chemistry between Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis, not only does Marylin Monroe look gorgeous in it, not only do the gags work perfectly every time, but it also features possibly the best ending for any movie. 50 years old it may be, but the gags, jokes and laughs never age a bit.
Customer Rating: Summary: A classic comedy, essential to your collection Comment: I absolutely love this film! Marilyn Monroe shines as Sugar, the ukelele player.
The plot twists are so unexpected that the audience is constantly on their toes and the relationship between the leads is so convincing and you find yourself rooting for them throughout the entire film, hoping that they will be together.
Overall, a truly timeless piece of film-making, one for the books! Anyone who hasn't seen it should definately go out and see it!
Customer Rating: Summary: A much over-rated film Comment: I am sorry if I appear awkward, but I simply cannot join in the acclaim that this film has been accorded, and to pronounce it as 'the funniest film' ever made is simply ridiculous. I can think of many others that are superior (The Ladykillers with Alec Guiness, for starters). This film relies on it's comedy from one of the oldest gags in the book, namely two blokes dressing up as women. Granted, they do a good job of it, but there is nothing original here. Marilyn Monroe is a pain in the bum, and Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis have had better starring roles. Sorry to be so lukewarm, but at one time I thought that something might be wrong with me, but I persevered with my video and although there are amusing moments, there are not enough to make me want to keep the video.
Customer Rating: Summary: It takes a real man to be a real woman Comment: Well nobody's perfect - that is of course Billy Wilder on top form. A true classic in every sense of the word, a truly sparkling script and 3 central performances that just cannot be topped. When Joe and Jerry don their nom de drag all you need to do is jump on the rollercoaster and pray your sides don't split. Despite Miss Monroe's consistent unproressional behaviour throughout the shooting the the film (she was so hated by the end of it - she wasn't invited to the wrap party) the extremely strong direction from Wilder ensured this film turned into cinematic gold. I have seen this film so many times and it never fails to make me laugh, for me Lemmon steal the show thus also proving the old adage, it takes a real man to be a real woman. Sit back and enjoy!!
