Customer Rating: Summary: draper 3004a Comment: i have recently purchased this item through amazon,I'm an engineer and obviously use tools on a daily basis,we have a much more expensive torque wrench in the workshop, and have to say this draper unit is exceptional value for money.
quite a heavy item for it's size which is usually a good indication of tool strenth and quality, and setting the desired torque level is 'fairly' accurate and easily acheived.
i would definatly recommend this item for the diy car/bike mechanic
Customer Rating: Summary: Rather imprecise Comment: My first impression was that the blow-moulded case was trash. One of the two clasps won't latch. So much for precision! As for the torque wrench itself, it's difficult to determine whether or not it's set to the correct torque. This is because the "0" mark on the adjusting handle doesn't align well with the 10, 20, 30, etc. NM marks on the shaft. Thus, it's hard to know whether the wrench is set on, e.g., 20 or 30 NM. Don't even think about trying to use this wrench to set inch lbs as it's set up to work best in NM. I called Draper's technical help line to request clarification and was told that the procedure for setting torque is so simple it's self-explanatory! Needless to say, the multi-lingual manual doesn't explain the procedure at all well. In a nutshell, "0" has to coincide with the line on the handle which runs diagonally between, e.g., 20 and 30 NM for the "0" to reflect "20". Clear?
