Customer Rating: Summary: Fairly basic pedal bin with a 'green' twist........ Comment: I had been searching for a good-looking recycling bin to go in my new kitchen for a while, and on paper this seemed to fit the bill. Don't get me wrong, it still looks good, but I am note convinced it is great value for money. For example, the manufacturer claims that this has a quiet closing lid, but it seems the same as any old pedal bin lid to me ie not very quiet!! Also the lid doesn't have a 'stay open' facility and the angle of the lid opening once the pedal is depressed is quite low, making it harder to scrape leftovers in etc. As for the three separate bins, these are okay and easy to remove for emptying. They are colour coded in brown, green and yellow so you will always know what to put where. However, the lip of the bins and the metal handles makes them hard to place liners in, and you end up with an ugly overhang on the outside of your bin, which if you use carrier bags looks even worse! You do need a fair bit of floorspace for this bin, as it is wider and lower in shape than most other kitchen bins, but obviously this is dependent on the size and shape of your kitchen. The width is 47cm, the depth is 25cm (more like 30cm when you allow for the foot pedal and back part of the lid), and the height is 44cm. The stainless steel effect looks good, however I would have liked a brushed steel option as well. The plastic lid looks ok and has a kind of honeycomb texture to it. The foot pedal is quite wide and has an open section in the middle so it stays cleaner. Overall I am pleased to do my bit for the environment by buying this, but I really do wonder whether it would have been cheaper to buy 3 small, bog-standard pedal bins instead!!
