Customer Rating: Summary: Bow to the one ring! Comment: Now we can all appreciate the lort films being one of the greatest cinematic realisations of our time, however, you may now feel the merchandising has been done to death and in some cases your maybe right. This game doesn't follow the original storyline, instead rolls off in another direction following "the war in the north" a story parallel and and relating to the original Tolkien works.
With this new approach, new characters and location can be introduced along with a new building system which differs from the first. I will be the first to admit I love all things to do with lord of the rings (both films and books), but I do recommed this game to anyone who is a RST fan or a lord of the rings game fan as it bring something a little extra to the story of middle earth and in a way helps explain why more of the elves and the dwarfs couldnt be bothered to come and help Gondor in their hour of need.
Customer Rating: Summary: In it for the money -pure & simple Comment: The great thing about the first LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth was how close it kept to the film. This crap, however, was like playing a totally different game with very little to do & a "nothing much" war of the ring feature.
This is a TOTAL money spin off & it is 1000% clear that hardly any effort went into making this game.
It should have been an expansion pack of the original...not a sequel.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice Comment: This is a good game but it is not much better then the first one, the gameplay is the mostly the same, although it loses thwe strategy campaign and gains a somewhat confusing War of the Ring campaign map which doesnt make up for the loss. However what akes the game a lot more playable is the new races, dwarfs, elves, goblins and the ability to create your own hero. The collectors edition provides a nice art collection and behind the seens footage and provides some useful gameplay extras such as new maps and more dragons then normal. The game is good none the less but i'm not too sure whether or not the extra money is worth it. If you can get it cheap then go for it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good. Comment: Dont listen to the people who complain about this game due to spec problems, if they are foolish enough to buy a game without reading the spec then they diserve it.
This game is of a good quality, there is a decent balance between the different factions and gameplay is very enjoyable. The graphics are good, I would advise those who can to turn the texture and unit details to high/very high. Although the game is good it seems to be more of an addon to the previous game, despite the system overhaul.
However i do think this game brilliantly captures the feel of tolkiens work without ruining gameplay.
Customer Rating: Summary: Stunning!!!! Comment: I have been playing computer games for 20 odd years now and this is right up there as one of the best games i've ever played.
