Summary: It doesn't work
Comment: I wasted a week of my life and then I returned it. Pinnacle support answered my emails efficiently but none of their suggestions worked. The picture rolled and shuddered in the preview window and was the same in the captured MPEG. Changing cables, capturing direct from camera or VHS, same result. Doesn't work. Amazon's return policy works a treat.

Comment: Pinnacle capture for mac is rubbish! !I,ve got a mac book pro,have installed the latest upgrade of the pinnacle software and mac software and it still doesn't work properly.Split screen lots of distortion.Works ok for the first 10 seconds then goes wrong. I've borrowed another and it's the same.Also i've tried it on my powerbook and thats the same too.Save your money-dont buy it!!!! I've only given it one star because there's not an option for none.

Comment: It's worth pointing out that the Pinnacle Videdo Capture for Mac is actually a Dazzle, which I didn't realise. This is a Good Thing.
It encodes straight to MPG4 and dumps it into iTunes by default (but it's easy enough to grab it from the library into your editor of choice).
I got mine primarily to record saved game clips from Halo 3 on my XBox 360. The quality isn't HD, obviously, and you will be unable to play in hi-def while capturing as far as I can tell.
If you intend to capture live footage while you play then you'll need an output splitter for the picture and the audio because the preview screen is very small and there is a slight lag between console and display.
For some reason the audio wouldn't come through my laptop while setting it up but was actually captured, which was weird. On one of the test clips there was a slight offset in the audio to the video but nothing distracting. On another clip there was some distortion on louder sounds.
Those points aside, it took less than five minutes to set up, was ridiculously easy to capture the clips, and the video quality is good enough for the price. All in all it's a decent budget capture card.

Summary: Finally - A Product that does exactly what it says on the tin
Comment: After looking into a Windows compatible video capture device for quite some time, i've dealt with various brands and designs, but to no avail. However, when I bought my first Mac a week ago, I decided to try again. I decided after much deliberation to go for this particular model, mainly based on its implied simplicity. I've watched many videos on youtube, and i suggest that prospective buyers do the same. All you have to do, is plug your three composite cables in, install the software, and your away. Recording is as easy as just naming the file, and hitting record. The files are in mp4 format, directly compatible with iMovie which came with my Mac.
I personally bought this to record my xbox 360 on my machine, and it is perfect for doing so. However, naturally would work with anything that has a standard composite in leadset

The preview video image was split in two vertically, and there were two (or more) images, one in colour and one in B&W. The whole combined image was jumping about all over the place and breaking up. I tried re-installing Mac OS Tiger thinking that this might have been the problem. The result was exactly the same. I bought a similar device direct from HongKong at £9.99 + £4.00 p&p. It was manufactured in China and was very well made. KWorld (the Chinese manufacturers) produce dozens of variations of this device. I wanted the Mac version, but the software I received was for a PC. I'm waiting to see if they can e-mail me the Mac version of the software. I've written to Pinnacle and sent them a few minutes of recording on a CD. Incidentally, the mail order service from HongKong was excellent, five days for delivery ! So Pinnacle need to go back to the drawing board to improve the reliability of their product. Whether it is the hardware or the software is anybody's guess.
