Customer Rating: Summary: Tea'd off Comment: This is a horrible kettle. It boils a small bit in the central column while the surrounding weighty reservoir slowly gets tepid + rank. It's heavy + unwealdy with reservoir full. After 2 weeks scalding steam began issuing from the seams round the handle. What's so difficult about just putting one cup in a normal kettle? This is an example of over-engineering a non-problem. Eco Kettle
Customer Rating: Summary: Eco Kettle Not So Eco? Comment: I'm trying my best a being 'Eco', and this was the next transitional step, and as Eco Kettle would lead to me believe, I would save money too. What a waste of time! It leaks, the water is luke warm when you want it boiling hot, the on switch doesn't stay down, its a nightmare to fill, and dispense water into the bottom chamber, (I'm 30 and I struggle with the effort needed), its top heavy when just filled, its much heavier than any other kettle, its ugly, commented on only because it looks so awful... Did you know that there are two versions on the market? The cheaper one normally on offer in most places is the old model with all these faults, so better make sure you get the newer one! The cup (old fashioned cup size), measures had almost scrapped off mine in transit, and the lowest, 2cups, is barely large enough to fill a mug. Any regular kettle has a 0.5l measure which is perfect for one mug, so im not sure why Eco Kettle sell this as feature? I have replaced mine with a £13 stainless steel kettle from Asda, I fill in the amount I need, but I can boil a full kettle if I want one. Eco kettle needs two boilings to make it hot, (not very 'Eco'), and to fill a teapot etc. Need boiling water for cooking, steralising, etc, forget it. This is an over priced gimmick. Simply put, buy a normal kettle and fill only the ammount of water you need! The only money I saved was my refund when I sent mine back!
Customer Rating: Summary: 2nd one to landfill? Comment: I would love to give this a great review as it is an eco product but unfortunately I have been disappointed with it.
I had one of the first ones and the seal did not work. I contacted the manufacturers and they were brilliant sending me a replacement seal straight out.I replaced it and it all seemed fine.
I would fault the position of the spout as it is not so much a spout as a hole in the jug. It is out of sight when you pour so it is a bit of guess work as to when and where the water will come out. It also shoots and spits boiling water all over the place when pouring, throwing water on your worksurface and hand if holding a hotwater bottle.
Then the on/off button went so I contacted them again. They sent me out a new kettle. I tried to get rid of the old one through freecycle but nobody was interested. I took it to the tip and put it in small appliances skip. The new one was fine. I am not the strongest of people and had never bothered to fill the tank as it is only me at home but I decided to filled it up and the sheer weight of it sent it tumbling out of my hand and hit the ground snapping the lid off.
I am still using it without a lid until I can buy a bog standard hob kettle made of recyclable metal and will just use a jug to measure the water when I fill the kettle. I think that is the most eco-friendly way to do it.
Customer Rating: Summary: BRILLIANT KETTLE! Comment: I was a little unsure whether to buy this kettle after reading some of the negative reviews, but took the plunge and I have to say, this is the best kettle I have had so far.
The kettle boils much faster than a conventional kettle therefore saving on electricity. It looks good on the design and is easy to operate, although I would like to point out that if you have difficulties using your hands or are elderly then you may have problems pressing the button at the top of the kettle as in my opinion it is quite hard to plunge and twist to fill the kettle to the top. If this very slight problem could be over come this product would be perfect.
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't buy any other kettle Comment: Had ours for a year. It does exactly what you want it to do, enables you to boil just the water you need, and it does it quickly. I recommend it. We've had no problems with ours.
