Customer Rating: Summary: A new chapter begins Comment: The release of Naruto series 4 part 1 continues the adventures of the leaf villages number 1 knucklehead ninja as it sees the conclusion of the invasion of Konoha and the beginning of a brand new story arc. If you have been following the story thus far, you will know that the leaf village has been attacked by the sinister sand village.
The first few episodes of this 3 disc collection nicely brings all these events to a conclusion. Furthermore, it also provides some of the most memorable moments from the entire Naruto series. I particularly like the climactic fight between Naruto and sand ninja Gaara as it provides plenty of jaw dropping action, but also has some heart as well, as the fight soon becomes an epic emotionally charged battle. All this leads to a dramatic conclusion which seems rather predictable, but is nonetheless brilliant.
Once this story arc is finished, the series wastes no time in getting into the next major plot line, which focuses mainly on Naruto and Jiraiya. The duo embark on a journey to find a rogue ninja of great importance to the leaf village, and also to give Naruto some extra training in order to learn a new and powerful technique. However, two sinister looking figures appear to be following them, and they seem to be interested in Naruto...
So there is plenty going on, plot wise with this Naruto release, however, if you enjoyed the frenetic action and fight scenes that dominated the last DVD release, then you may be disappointed as this section of the story is a lot slower, with exception to about 3 or 4 episodes. Another thing that may disapoint is the fact that the secondary characters of the series do not appear very often over these 3 discs. So this may be annoying for fans of Rock Lee, Shikimaru, Neji etc.
The pairing of Jiraiya and Naruto provides mainly comic relief as they are so incredibly mismatched; with Naruto wanting to focus on his training, and Jiraiya instead wanting to drink, gamble and flirt with women. However, it is obvious that there is a bond developing between the two, which makes for entertaining viewing.
Naruto series 4 part 1 contains 13 episodes, these are:
79.Beyond the limit of darkness and light
80.The third hokage, forever...
81.Return of the morning mist
82.Eye to Eye: Sharingan VS. Sharingan!
83.Jiraiya: Naruto's potential disaster!
84.Roar, Chidori! Brother VS. Brother!
85.Hate among the Uchihas: The last of the clan!
86.A new training begins: I will be strong!
87.Keep on training: Pop goes the water balloon!
88.Focal Point: The mark of the leaf
89.An impossible choice: The pain within Tsunade's heart
90.Unforgivable! A total lack of respect!!
91.Inheritance! The necklace of death!!
As usual, the animation and voice acting are of a high standard. As well as the music, which is fantastic; I absolutely love the new opening theme music. The song is called 'Go' from the J-Rock band 'Flow'; it is so incredibly catchy that I find myself humming it all the time. There is also a new ending theme song, but it is probably my least favourite yet, as it changes to a more poppy style as opposed to the previous endings songs being rock.
As I've said in other Naruto reviews, if you have never seen Naruto before, you should really check it out as it is one of the best long running anime series going. The first and second series boxsets are an absolute steal at less than £20 each (at the time of writing this)
If you have been following the Naruto releases so far, you probably already have this one, but if not, just be prepared to see lots of Jiraiya and Naruto.
Naruto series 4 part 1 isn't the best boxset, but it is still essential for all Naruto fans.
Customer Rating: Summary: Episodes 79 to 91 Comment: This volume of the great but sometimes annoying Naruto series contains another thirteen episodes. The volume begins by finishing off the attack on the Hidden Leaf Village before moving on to Naruto and Jiraiya's search for the powerful ninja Tsunade but to complicate two powerful strangers have come to town in search of Naruto.
I did greatly enjoy this volume of Naruto and I feel it is the best of the show that I have seen so far. The conclusion of the battle in the Hidden Leaf Village is good if a bit of an anticlimax and it also shows what the parents of some of the main characters are capable of. The aftermath of the battle also provides some rather touching moments. The search for Tsunade is also good with some quite funny moments even if it does lack for action in places. The search also leads to the sidelining of many of the other characters from the show as the story focuses on Naruto and Jiraiya as they travel and Naruto's attempt to learn a powerful new move.
The animation and voice acting are both of the same level as they have been throughout the series but the early habit of repeating itself constantly has been greatly reduced. The series still has a tendency to take ages to get anywhere but it is still entertaining in getting there. This is probably my favourite of the Naruto DVDs released so far and I cannot wait for the next one.
Customer Rating: Summary: the last of the best Comment: seris four is amazing, i can't hide the fact, however you should know, it is the last great seris, after this one it just rolls down hill until it dies at episode 220, unfortunately they will go through several seris of fillers before anything interesting happens.
but anyway, seris four is the best, if you're going to get any of the naruto seris, get this one, this seris firt does the very satisfying job of rounding up the cliff hangar left in the wake of seris three, after everyone recovers and the hokage's funeral is delt with this seris is one long chase as subordinates of orochimaru 'steal' sasuke following his recovery from the battle with gaara, it features great fights such as choji's only good fight, which is amazing by the way, neji in all his glory aswel as kiba.
but the fights to really look out for are of-course, rock lee vs kimimaru and gaara vs kimimaru, and the awesome final conflict of sasuke vs naruto.
