Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: no german audio track Comment: nice box, but in my opinion the hd quality could be better. and although it is told on the cover that there is a german audiotrack - there is not. would be nice if amazon posted the available and correct data, especially concerning audio and subtitles. Customer Rating: Summary: Only just about worth it Comment: I must be honest that I bought this for the first Matrix. The other two films were more like 'extras' to me, really - although I must admit I didn't want to wait for the lone release of the three films in 2009. The transfer of the original Matrix is superior to the DVD release, to the point where you can see every facial feature and the effects stand up to the extra quality very well. What can you say about the other two films, other than what the Phantom Menace went wrong? Even accepting the convoluted mess of a story that is Reloaded, Revolutions doesn't even follow through with consistency on that narrative. Of course neither film really fulfils the promise of Neo's closing lines in the original either. Overall, the films are well transferred and the range of extras is bewildering - while I agree that the US version has more though and is probably better value for money. Comment: I have to say I was not sure whether or not to give this 4 or 5 stars, so decided to go for 4. The transfer and sound are excellent and some of the special effects are truly stunning when watched again on full HD. The price is excellent as well, less than £10 per disc. On the downside however is that due to the increased quality, I actually noticed the CGI a lot more than when I originally watched it on a CRT TV and DVD. The fight sequences with Agent Smith and Mr Anderson are the ones that stand out the most, and left me wondering a little as to whether or not I wanted to see all these floors. As to the movies themselves, the first was a breakthrough and was one of the best movies I have ever seen at the cinema, however as with many follow ups, the second and third movies were not quite up to the same standard, and sometimes they felt like they were trying to over complicate the plot on occasions to mess with your mind.
